Hi Jessica, thank you for visiting my blog, and your continued support of my art and writing. You're one of my favorite artists so it means so much to me.

This work is lovely. I love the colors and am fascinated with the strokes. And I love the name of the painting!

I've been preparing for a show next week, and the gallery owner has me jumping through hoops. Executing and re-executing paintings that I've done, trying to change my color scheme, deviating from the original intent, then back again..... etc.

I was wondering - has this ever happened to you? I finally told him (fearing I would be dropped from the show) that I was taking back my autonomy and would not submit further drafts. That I would submit the final versions and he could elect not to use them, but it is my hope that he will. In other words I was "unapologetic." I firmly believe art is about autonomy.

Now I'm so nervous. I always think of painting as fun. Is this when it becomes work? I'd love to hear your taken on this.

Ching thank you so much for taking a look at my video! Your smile in your avatar makes me smile every time. :)

Peggy. Your work is strong and created from a place that is inherently YOU - that's what I love about it. I have never experienced anything like what you've described. I'm insulted for you! I've never heard of anything like that and can't imagine WHY a gallery owner would try and change the artist's original vision. I think you've handled yourself quite well given the circumstances and if he ends up leaving you out of the show I would consider it a blessing in disguise. That just doesn't make sense to me. The only way that it makes sense is if he was commissioning you for a particular project but it doesn't sound like this is the case. Good for you for calling an end to the madness (that would drive me crazy!) and handling yourself and your work with pride. Hopefully the gallery owner gets a wake up call about his role in curating NOT creating or dictating the art that should be made by others. Wow... I'm actually really blown away by this. Let me know how things work out!

Hi Jessica. A video - how cool! My speakers are so tinny I couldn't understand what you were saying, but it was great to watch you paint. I love the palette and your color choices, too.

I hope you'll post more of these. It looks as if Spring is come to the Northeast. And I am jealous of your skylighted studio!
